If you plant honesty, you will reap trust

In the Far East, the emperor was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his children, he decided to do something different. He called young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you.”

The children were shocked, but the emperor continued. “I am going to give each one of you a seed today – one very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next emperor.”

One boy, named Ling, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his mother the story. She helped him get a pot and planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it, carefully. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other youths began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.

Ling kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Ling didn’t have a plant and he felt like a failure. Six months went by — still nothing in Ling’s pot.

He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Ling didn’t say anything to his friends, however. He just kept waiting for his seed to grow. A year finally went by and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection. Ling told his mother that he wasn’t going to take an empty pot. But his mother asked him to be honest about what happened.

Ling felt sick at his stomach, but he knew his mother was right. He took his empty pot to the palace. When Ling arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other youths. They were beautiful — in all shapes and sizes. Ling put his empty pot on the floor and many of the other children laughed at him. A few felt sorry for him and just said, “Hey, nice try.”

When the emperor arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted the young people. Ling just tried to hide in the back. “My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,” said the emperor. “Today one of you will be appointed the next emperor!”

All of a sudden, the emperor spotted Ling at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered his guards to bring him to the front. Ling was terrified. He thought, “The emperor knows I’m a failure! Maybe he will have me killed!”

When Ling got to the front, the Emperor asked his name. “My name is Ling,” he replied. All the kids were laughing and making fun of him. The emperor asked everyone to quiet down. He looked at Ling, and then announced to the crowd, “Behold your new emperor! His name is Ling!”

Ling couldn’t believe it. Ling couldn’t even grow his seed. How could he be the new emperor?

Then the emperor said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds that would not grow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he Is the one who will be the new emperor!”

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust. If you plant goodness, you will reap friends. If you plant humility, you will reap greatness. If you plant perseverance, you will reap victory. If you plant consideration, you will reap harmony. If you plant hard work, you will reap success. If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation. If you plant faith, you will reap miracles.

So be careful what you plant, now; it will determine what you will reap tomorrow. The seeds you now scatter will make life worse or better for you or for the ones who will come after you. Someday you will enjoy the fruits or you will pay for the choices you make.

Inner Strengths

It's like a norm that I received excuses from staffs and even some seniors that certain tasks cannot be carried out. For example, I have never done these sort of tasks before, I haven't done server before, I haven't configured this and that before, I have no knowledge of accounting, no knowledge of HR and the list goes on.

Those are on the surface excuses but deep inside, everyone has the inner strengths and capabilities to learn and tackle the challenges and produce results.

Read further to reflect those hidden inner strengths.

ONCE, All villagers decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer all the People gathered but only one boy came with an umbrella.  That's *FAITH*

WHEN You throw a baby in the air, she laughs because she knows you will catch her. That's *TRUST*

EVERY Night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next Morning but still we set the alarms to wake up. That's *HOPE*

WE Plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That's *CONFIDENCE*

WE See the world suffering. But still we get Married or have a relationship. That's *LOVE*

On an Old Man's shirt was written a cute sentence 'I Am Not 60 Years Old.., I Am Sweet 16 with 44 years Experience.'  That's *ATTITUDE*

Have confidence and courage to communicate your ideas and speak out.

Believe in yourself because we have faith and hope in you and we trust that you will produce positive results.

6 Rules of Success in Life

Arnold Schwarzenegger's 6 Rules of Success in Life:

Rule #1 - Trust yourself. Ask yourselves: Who do you want to be? Not what! But who?

Rule #2 - Break The Rules (not the law). Be a legend, so don't be too well behaved and break the rules. What's the point of being on this earth if all you want to do is be like everyone else and avoid trouble.

Rule #3 - Don't Be Afraid to Fail. Be willing to fail. You can't always win but don't be afraid of making decisions. You can't be paralysed by fear of failure or you will never push yourself. Success will come, so don't be afraid to fail.

Rule #4 - Don't Listen to the Naysayers. How many times have you heard that "you can't do this, you can't do that. It's never been done before". Don't listen that you can't. Listen to yourself and say "Yes I can".

Rule #5 - Work Your Butt Off. You never want to fail because you didn't work hard enough. Leave no stone unturned. No pain no gain. It is important to have fun in life ofcourse but when you're out there enjoying yourself, someone out there at the same time is work hard, someone is getting smarter and someone is winning. Just remember, you can't climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pocket.

Rule #6 - It's About Giving Back. Whatever path that you take in your lives, you must always find time to give something back, something back to your community, give something back to your state or to your country.

It’s never too late to be successful

When is it too late for success? 94-year-old John B. Goodenough made the news this week for creating a breakthrough battery that stores triple the energy and is safer than lithium-ion batteries.

John also happens to be the inventor of lithium-ion batteries, which he invented when he was 57 years old - 37 years ago. Today, lithium-ion batteries power all our smart phones, tablets and laptops - as well as electric cars.

His new battery invention will dwarf his first invention, as it will power our future solar powered and electric vehicles, homes and industries. It makes the current lithium-ion technology redundant (including Elon Musk’s brand new $5 billion lithium-ion battery gigafactory).

How do the new batteries work? They’re made of glass electrolytes, which are solid instead of the liquid electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries. They will allow electric cars to go three times the distance, and recharge in minutes instead of hours. They’re also far safer as they won’t explode, and they can operate in sub-zero temperatures with no danger of freezing.

At 94 years old, John still works as a Professor at the University of Texas, and he isn’t finished yet.

John believes humanity has a 30 year window to come up wth an even more powerful “super battery” to take us entirely off fossil fuels, before the environmental damage we are creating becomes irreversible and says:
"I want to solve this problem before my chips are in… I still have time to go.”

Goodenough began his career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Lincoln Laboratory in 1952 where he laid the groundwork for the first random-access memory (RAM) of the digital computer. After leaving MIT, he became professor and head of the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Oxford. During this time, Goodenough made the lithium-ion discovery.

So if you’re ever thinking it’s too late to be successful, just remember John B. Goodenough.
